16 Mar The Meta-Rendezvous
To return to the root is to find the meaning, but to pursue appearances is to miss the source. — Seng Ts’an
The Law of Attraction and Energy
Nothing in this world is random. While the “pedestrian mind” credits circumstances to luck or accidental timing, the seeker recognizes a specific, divine order. We are not independent creatures; we are drawn together by the quality of energy we have cultivated through spiritual devotion—or the lack thereof.
- Iron and Magnet: You are both. The people you encounter, whether in a grocery store or a deep relationship, are drawn to the vibration you carry.
- The Meta-Rendezvous: Every meeting is a portal. Whoever stands before you is a physical manifestation of an essence that already lives within you.
- The Law of Totality: How you do anything is how you do everything. From cleaning a floor to driving a car, every action either refines or coarsens the energy that dictates your future encounters.
It takes compassion and a deep sense of Love to recognize the oneness of Life in this world. ~ Siraj
The Guest House
This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.
~ Rumi
The Three Guides from the Beyond
Inspired by Rumi’s The Guest House, we must view every “arrival” as a guide clearing our house for a new delight. These guides typically manifest in three forms:
The Person of Intent
• Their Role – They arrive at “inconvenient” times to challenge our self-serving motivations and outmoded habits.
• The Ego’s Reaction: Irritation – They annoy the ego’s sense of entitlement and false grandeur.
The Life Teacher
• Their Role: They share uncomfortable Truths and reveal our “blind side.” They rarely look the way we expect them to look.
• The Ego’s Reaction: Resistance – The ego judges their appearance or “status” to avoid the message.
The Lifetime Guide
• Their Role – They embody “Non-Doing.” They don’t seek to be loving; they are Love. They simply “chop wood and carry water.”
• The Ego’s Reaction: Indifference – Because they offer no emotional drama or “utility” to the ego, they are often overlooked.
Jump into Love without hesitation and allow the voice of the 'other shore' to draw you unto itself. ~ Siraj
The Mirror Trap
Mullah Nasreddin found a mirror on the road. He had never seen a mirror-some traveler passing by the side of the village might have dropped the mirror. He looked in the mirror and said, “My God, this is my father! And this old cheat used to have a photograph of himself and we never knew about it.”
He took the mirror home. He did not want to show it to his wife because an unnecessary quarrel would arise-any point was enough so he went upstairs. The wife was looking out of the corner of her eye…”That old fellow is certainly doing something, the way he has entered.” And as he left the house, she went upstairs. He had hidden it inside a box underneath his clothes, but she found it. No husband can hide anything, which the wife cannot find, it has never happened.
She looked into the mirror and she said, “My God, in this old age…and he is having a love affair. And with this old woman, rotten!”
The story of Mullah Nasreddin and the mirror teaches us that we often project our own internal “rottenness” onto others because we refuse to look at ourselves.
Selfish Measurement: The ego constantly measures people to see if they are “useful” for emotional gratification. If they aren’t, we discard them.
The Escape: You can change your scenery, but “wherever you go, there you are.” You cannot escape your own cultivated energy.
The Practice: It is not about “improving” your personality; it is about destroying the mechanism of the mind that uses others for its own survival.
Life does not ‘happen' to you; everyone and everything arrives for you, acting as a mirror and a map to the Way. ~ Siraj
Honoring the Reflection (a weekly practice)
Everything is doing what it is doing to bring us to non-doing…in order to make Love possible. To live well is to replace fear with meaning. This week, practice The Way of the Heart.
Acknowledge the Mirror - When someone irritates you, ask: What disowned part of my own Heart is this person showing me?
Entertain the Guest - Welcome the 'dark thoughts' or ‘sorrows' people bring out in you and treat them honorably...they are guides sent to clear out your spiritual ignorance.
Look Beyond Appearances - Look past the 'bones and flesh' of those you meet and see them as energetic portals designed to accelerate your ability to Love.
The Non-Doing - Accept everything as it comes, stop fighting Life and start listening to the 'subtle voice' teaching you the harmony of existence.
You are everyone you meet - when you can honor what is ‘before' you without judgment, you have finally honored what is ‘within' you.
