Tacit Awareness

Tacit Awareness

The moonlight plays upon your shadow to show you only one thing — Love. ~ Siraj

Life needs no commentary nor does it need to be explained. It simply needs to be lived as it is. There are many matters of Life that can be recognized rather than “thought,” but most of us cannot live as mystery. We want everything explained and defined so we can feel some sense of control over what we believe is happening.

Our “knowledge” is based in the human interpretation of cognitive meaning through the mind’s structure of logic and reasoning, which tells us what we can “comprehend.”  But comprehension is not authentic understanding.  This process of the thinking mind ruled by logic alienates us from spiritual awakening and causes us to miss what is deeply pertinent to our maturity and eventual awakening.

Life is more than our thoughts can define or comprehend. Life is found in allowing it to live us, without argument or manipulation.

In meditation, the ‘voice' of Life is SILENCE. ~ Siraj

In this SILENCE we discover a new awareness that is tacit, which simply means a “knowledge” that is understood without being written or stated. In letting go of the conscious mind and its complexities, we create space for a transmission to occur from the “other shore” – a profound understanding beyond our thoughts. In this space, Life speaks to us SILENTLY about living as Love. We learn to move into and out of everything through the awareness of a meditative life without the need for explanation or emotional gratification.

Meditation and inner growth is about coming to a place where we no longer hold our life to the limits of our “thoughts” and seeming circumstances. It is the effort to come into a consciousness that allows us to commune with Love through tacit awareness and live in a willingness to experience why we are here in this lifetime rather than the futility of trying to manipulate what we imagine is occurring.

Seeking to know the tacit ‘voice' of Love is a noble cause in this lifetime. ~ Siraj

Allow me to share a story that may be helpful. It is a story about how deeply important silence is to our spiritual journey and how it changes the way we approach our lives.

One of the greatest mystics India ever produced was Bohidharma. He was born 1400 years ago. He went to China for a strange reason, and when asked why he was going to China he said, “Because in India people think they know, and I need people who are innocent.”

In China, he worked for 20 years. And when he was very old, near about 90 years, he said, “It is time for me to go back to the Himalayas, because there is no other place in the whole world that is better as far as death is concerned – so silent, so eternally silent that you can receive death lovingly, meditatively, consciously. But before I go, I would like to give the mystery school that I have created in these 20 years to one of my disciples. So those who feel that they are capable of running my school should stand up.”

He had hundreds of disciples. Only five persons stood up.

He laughed and said, “You are the ones who have missed…so just get out, leave this school now.”

Then he went through the crowd of disciples, looking into each disciple’s eyes and he found four persons. He brought them out and he said, “I am going to ask a single question. The answer will decide the essence of my whole mystic approach. Just use the minimum of words.”

The first man said, “It is meditation.”

Bodhidharma said, “You have my skin. You have penetrated only skin deep. Go back to your seat.”

And he asked the second man, “What is your answer?”

The second man said, “Enlightenment.”

Bodhidharma said, “You have my bones. Go back to your place.”

Then the third person said, “Master, I do not know.”

Bodhidharma said, “You have my very marrow. It is good, but not good enough. You still know something. Please go and sit down.”

He looked at the fourth man. The man had only tears in his eyes, no words. He fell at the feet of Bodhidharma.

Bodhidharma said, “You have my Being. You have got it – what cannot be spoken with words, you have said by your silence. What they cannot say, although one came very close when he said, ‘I don’t know.’ What he could not say, you managed to say loudly simply with your tears.”

Yes, authentic Love is wordless, yet it speaks volumes within us. Tacit awareness is more than knowledge, it is awareness of the wordless! It is being alert enough to bring forth consciousness as Love itself. Silence is the answer. We change the way we live and the way Life lives us simply by learning how to live silently rather than mesmerized and consumed by thoughts.

We must learn to 'listen' beyond the syntax of words and the semantics of common logic. ~ Siraj

Please understand: Silence is essential to our well-being. It removes the typical conflict that most of us find so necessary in order to sustain the ego’s presence within.

We must be willing to move into a space where words no longer convey interpretation, but rather become fingers pointing to the gaps and spaces where the real meaning is occurring. My dear ones, there is a whole new language and blessing in just listening without interference from the mind.

Silence is the tone of emptiness and the totality of Oneness that purges the noise of the mind that is obsessed by fear and hate so that we may begin our journey of Life through Love. This journey into consciousness rectifies many aspects of our life and positions our attentions to a more receptive state. It puts us in the posture of inwardness that frees us from the mind’s labors to sustain emotion.

Then, a new way of living is revealed in which we hear many things that are pertinent to our state of Karma. And from here…life becomes an adventure into the unknown – one of the most beautiful experiences you will ever know.

Learn to watch for the ``spaces`` in everything you do - live in the ``gaps`` and ``pauses`` that exist between your thoughts

Do not interpret what seems to be happening, listen to what IS happening - seek it, live in it, learn from it

Give up the futile for the sake of the transcendental

Make every moment an effort to awaken

May your experience be silent, may your Heart reveal the obvious and may your wisdom fluoresce
